BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
KEY FACTS
Customer: Buckinghamshire County Council
Value: £7.5m
Start date: April 2020
Completion date: Q1 2022
Overview: Construction of 58 homes using volumetric modular
construction.
This scheme for Buckinghamshire County Council is to deliver a development of 58 new apartments which will provide temporary accommodation for individuals and families in need.
The project is being delivered for the customer through our Innovation Partnership Agreement with Premier Modular.
Prior to commencing on site, Claritas Four Zero worked with the customer on their request to work up the design and revise the budget to address budget constraints and pressures. Changes in core construction afforded several changes that maintained design intent, functionality and performance but delivered time and cost savings. Several options on walkways were considered before the right balanced solution was selected.
The apartments are being constructed around an external courtyard by an external deck accessed via two stair cores and a central lift. External works include a communal garden at the front of the building.
Air tightness levels have been increased through the design co-ordination endeavours between Premier and Claritas Four Zero which will ultimately benefit the residents in terms of reduced bills and BCC in terms of long term sustainable assets.
In addition to the residential accommodation and associated amenities, the scheme will also provide office accommodation for the British Red Cross on site.
